My family and I visited Rothesay on May 20th. I have been researching my Macfie heritage and wanted to visit the birth place of my mother Patricia McEwan Macfie and her family. We visited the Discovery Center and were warmly greeted by Jean Donald and John. They were so helpful in helping me research my family and making it possible to visit Kingarth Old Cemetery where we found my (4greats) grandfather John Macfie's b. 1760 grave stone with the inscription: by John Mcfie late farmer Inchmarnock in memory of wife Margt McKirdy died Baliecal 24 8 1840 aged 78. It was truly exciting to visit beautiful Rothesay, the home of my heritage.

My family and I are planning a visit to Rothesay on May 20, 2009, the birth place of my mother, Patricia McEwan Macfie. My grandfather Daniel Macfie and grandmother Mary Boyd Macfie told me stories about growing up there and how beautiful it is. Looking forward to our trip

Delighted to discover this site. Hope it helps me find out about my grandfather John Henry Stewart who must have left Bute before or early 1900
