Visited Rothesay in 2001, brought back memories of the 60's when it was the place to holiday. Ice cream from my uncle's cafe or kiosk beside the Gay Queen, trips on the boat itself, walking up the serpentine.....the amusement arcade.
All great memories.....

Would love to meet/contact anyone who may remember the Napier family of Ballochgoy. I noticed a post from Margaret Mackenzie (Thorne), who may be related to the Napiers. Please contact me at the email address shown here. My father was born in Rothesay but emigrated to Canada in 1950, with my mother and older brother who was also born in Rothesay. Most of my dad's siblings remained in Rothesay. I have one cousin still on the island; other relatives on my father's side have all since moved from Bute, or have now passed away. Would love to hear from anyone who remembers Willie Napier, or any of his 6 siblings, Andrew, Peggy, Robbie, Nan, Tom, Agnes. Thank-you for a great website.

In 1971 we bought a house at No 10 The Terrace, Ardbeg my children Stephen Laura and Rosalind spent all their childhood school holidays and to this day still love Rothesay and the wonderful memories .. they are now bringing their own children back to relive these magical times and who knows maybe a third generation will come to love beautiful Rothesay .. no one should live a whole lifetime and not visit this great island.
